Studio Notes
This journal will share occasional notes from the studio, including process updates, exhibition news, reflections, and closer looks at selected works.
Aileen’s practice is rooted in questions of environment, social justice, ambiguity, and emotional response. These entries offer a quieter look at the ideas, materials, and moments that sit behind the finished work.
In the studio, process is rarely a straight line. A piece may begin with a clear direction, then shift as layers are added, removed, covered, or reconsidered. Materials can reveal something unexpected. A mark can change the tone of a work. A surface can hold both intention and uncertainty.
These studio notes will offer a way to follow that process more closely. Some entries may focus on a specific body of work. Others may reflect on exhibitions, themes, materials, or the questions that continue to return through the practice.
Rather than explaining the work completely, the Journal is meant to create another point of entry. It offers space for reflection around what is visible, what remains unresolved, and what sits beneath the surface.
